Fourth ISS: Science for Eco-Friendly Advancement

BOGOR (20/10) – International Seminar on Sciences (ISS) is an annual meeting organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bogor Agricultural University (FMIPA IPB). “Sciences for Green Development” was chosen as the theme in the 4th ISS to take into account the importance of science in maintaining the ecosystem and supporting its sustainability.

On Thursday (19/10) and Friday (20/10), at IPB International Convention Center, Baranangsiang, Bogor, IIS 4 began with introduction and speech by Chairman of Committee: Dr. Yessie Widya Sari, M.Si. as well as the presentation of the activity agenda that will be held on the first day. Subsequently representing Rector of IPB, Vice Rector for Facilities and Business: Dr. Ir. Arif Imam Suroso, M.Sc delivered his speech and appreciation to the organizers and supporters who enabled this international event to be held well, as well as officially opened the 4th ISS which was held in momentum of Lustrum VII FMIPA IPB.

ISS this year was also attended by the Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia: H. E. Peter MacArthur. The presence of Ambassador of Canada in this opportunity, is to convey a greatest appreciation of the implementation of this activity and the cooperation that exists between FMIPA IPB and University of Waterloo in developing actuarial science in Indonesia in the form of Actuary Undergraduate Program in FMIPA IPB, through READI program.

With an abundance of natural resources, Indonesia and several other countries, especially in Southeast Asia, are expected to pioneer the development of global environmental friendly innovations. In its fourth year of implementation, ISS is expected to accommodate good synergy and communication among academia, business and government in developing a better, greener and more eco-friendly future.
